Doom Stuff: My Wads Community Contributions |
Other: My Photography Links (More coming soon!) |
This is a list of all the community projects that I've contributed to. Upcoming and unreleased stuff is at the bottom of the page.
What if Tom Hall had never left ID software? That's what this project set out to answer. Unlike the many ill-fated "Doom Bible" projects, this one is only focused on finishing levels that had data from the various Doom prototypes. The release of the ID Vault in the remaster of Doom, which unveils many thought to be lost prototype assets, allowed this project to flourish. This is byfar the best and most complete "Doom Beta" project yet.
This is the first installment of the GAYhem series, or at least I hope it becomes a series. There's 27 maps made by various queer members of the Doom community. The visuals are a standout aspect of this project, with a custom color palette with pastel hues based on the various pride flags. Being a queer project diversity and individuality were centerpoint, and is reflected in the various themes and styles you'll see throughout this project.
Six hours was this project's time restriction to make a map. Not the shortest time I've made something in but the pressure was on. Overall, I'm not entirely pleased with how my submission turned out, but it is playable, fits the vanilla Doom 2 style well, and met all my personal goals for it. If I knew it would end up so late in the set, I would have made it much more difficult.
This project was an odd one, as instead of multiple maps, the project was only one. How would that work? Everyone submits a single box shaped room, hence the name. The final map is strange and surreal, and is worth checking out, if you have a computer powerful enough to not lag from the sheer size of the final map.
PUSS is a popular speedmapping event on Doomworld, but this was my first time joining one. The rules were simple, emulate the style of the original 3 Doom episodes. This project was slated for release on Doom's 30th anniversary, and was a fairly big deal because of it. Check this one out if you like vanilla style stuff.
Obsidian's Maximum Project strikes back with another installment. I skipped out on the 2022 project, but I was able to make something for this one. Same relaxed premise as the last time. This is the project I made Warehouse Grotto for.
A slight twist on an old gimmick, you've likely heard of the One Monster Project, well this has two! The project that The Flaescus was made for. The project ended up with 44 levels submitted, quite a few have interesting takes on the restriction that took me by surprise.
The first installment of Obsidian's Maximum Project has always felt special to me. Little restrictions, ample time, and no pressure to make anything special. Of course, I did make something special, as this was the project I made Dead Signal for. You can read more about Dead Signal in the Solo Wads section of the website, or you could try out the full version of the project, and I recommend that you do.
This project was an absolute disaster. Anyone was allowed to add whatever they wanted, with no restrictions. The project started off as a single small room, but over time, became a beautiful, janky, mess of a megawad. Try it out, if you can stomach the constant shifts in style and difficulty. The link is for a remastered version that was released a few years after.
The newest installment of Obsidian's annual maximum project. Much like the others in the series, this is more of a mapping jam than a full project. I'm still working on my submission, but it'll probably be vanilla compatible. I'm on a bit of a kick with those right now.
This is the sequel to Negative One. It's following the same rules as it's predecessor, but with more structure this time. Interest is low, and the lead seemingly forgot about it. It doesn't look like this one will release.
Doom Refired is the debut project of Team IDKFA. "Hell Strikes Back with a Vengeance! New monsters, new music, and over 32 sprawling levels of 90's style action through never before seen realms." Demos for Episode 1 and Episode 2 are out, but progress is slow. The project lead is feeling some burnout after the nearly 4 years this project has been through, and we desperately need help. A link to the project's Discord is in the DW thread.
